Matchy-matchy: a DIY two-piece set

I’ve been wanting to make a pair of pants for a while now…I never have!  I actually don’t wear pants a whole lot, (picking out two pieces, a top and bottom, are just too much to coordinate most days!) but for some reason have been eyeing several pairs that are a bit more on the tracksuit/sporty side.  I made these using the Simplicity Pattern 8750 pants by Mimi G.  The pattern was really straightforward and the steps were easy to follow.  I’d never done a zipper-fly and it was actually fairly easy.  I did just a few minor hacks to the pattern: My sporty ribbon is wider than the pattern calls for, so instead of folding over the leg opening fabric twice, I only folded it once and added interfacing.  I also ended up with a few fit issues and took the pants in a few times, especially at the top making them more fitted.  Next time I’ll remember to use the same color of the pants for the inside side of the pocket.  Oops!  Hello, white pocket:-/  I’ll also practice applying the snaps-not as easy as it looks!  Not all are working snaps-room for improvement!   I self-drafted the top.  It’s a basic tube top, nothing fancy, and then I added the same ribbon to the sides.  Not afraid to be matchy-matchy:-)
