Color-blocking pastels: a Summer look

What’s better than one pastel?  Two! Maybe even three:-)  When choosing pastels, I usually gravitate toward the softer, more muted hues.  I’m loving this light yellow with baby blue, but also want to try seafoam green with mint and baby pink with lavender.  There are no rules when it comes to color combos (or anything fashion for that matter!), just have fun.

But besides the obvious decision of what colors to choose, I also love playing with textures and silhouettes.  For instance, mixing a silky, feminine top with a leather mini-skirt, or a structured, cropped leather jacket over a slip dress instantly creates an interesting juxtaposition of textures and plays with feminine vs. masculine shapes.

The leather skirt I’m wearing was thrifted, but originally from Zara, and my Mom bought this cropped sweater in Paris back in the early 70s.  Below are several similar pieces.  Thanks for reading!
